How are words counted?
Text is split on runs of whitespace, so hyphenated terms count as one word and any spacing style (spaces, tabs, newlines) works the same.
Do spaces count as characters?
Yes. The character count is the total length of your text including spaces, punctuation, and line breaks, which matches how most platform limits are measured.
How is the sentence count derived?
It counts runs of sentence-ending punctuation (., !, ?). Abbreviations like "e.g." can inflate the number slightly, so treat it as an estimate.
What reading speed does the estimate assume?
