About this tool
Profile pictures, product photos, and grid posts often need to be perfectly square, but most photos are not. This tool centers your image inside a square canvas at a size you choose, either fitting the whole image with padding or cropping it to fill the frame. Optional rounded corners and a custom background color make it useful for logos and avatars too.
How to use
- Pick your image under Image file.
- Set the Square size in pixels (1080 by default) and choose a Fit mode: Fit entire image or Fill square crop.
- Adjust Padding %, Corner radius %, and Background color to taste.
- Choose an output Format and download the square image.

Does this tool upload my image?
No. The square is composed on a canvas in your browser and never sent to a server.
What is the difference between the two fit modes?
Fit entire image scales the whole picture to fit inside the square, filling the leftover space with the background color. Fill square crop scales the image to cover the entire square, trimming the edges that overflow.
What does the Padding % setting control?
In fit mode, it reserves a margin between the image and the square's edges, from 0 to 45 percent of the square's width. It is ignored in Fill square crop mode, which always covers the full frame.
How do rounded corners work?
Corner radius %, from 0 to 50, rounds the corners of the drawn image itself, with the background color showing through the rounded-off areas. At 50 percent a square image becomes a circle.
Can the background be transparent?
The background is filled with a solid hex color (white by default), so padding areas are not transparent. For transparent output, use Fill square crop so no background is visible, and export as PNG or WebP.
What size should I use for social media avatars?
1080 pixels, the default, is safe for nearly every platform, since sites downscale large avatars cleanly. The minimum accepted by the tool is 16 pixels.
