GPA Calculator

GPA Calculator is a free education tool that runs directly in your browser with no account required.

About this tool

This calculator computes a credit-weighted GPA from a simple list of grade points and credit hours. Paste one course per line, and it returns your GPA to two decimal places along with the total credits and number of classes counted.

How to use

  1. In the Grades and credits box, enter one course per line as grade, credits (for example 3.7,4).
  2. Convert letter grades to points first on the standard scale: A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, and so on.
  3. Read your GPA, total credits, and class count from the results.

Frequently asked questions

How is the GPA weighted?

Each grade is multiplied by its credit hours, the products are summed, and the total is divided by the total credits. A 4.0 in a 1-credit class moves your GPA far less than a 4.0 in a 5-credit class.

Can I use a weighted high school scale above 4.0?

Yes — the tool accepts any numeric grade values, so 5.0-scale honors or AP grades work as long as all rows use the same scale.

What happens to malformed lines?

Lines without at least a grade and a credit value separated by a comma are skipped, and you will see an error if no valid rows with nonzero credits remain.

How do I calculate a cumulative GPA across semesters?

List every graded course from all semesters in one box — because the math is credit-weighted, combining terms this way produces the correct cumulative figure.

Is my academic information private?

Yes. Grades are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded, logged, or stored.
